Swimming away from extinction?
Four critically endangered Yangtze finless porpoises are enjoying their first taste of their new home – 400kms away from their old one. With an estimated 1000 finless porpoises – nicknamed ‘underwater pandas’ – surviving in the wild, we hope this successful translocation will create a new population and help save the species from suffering the same fate as the Baiji dolphin, which is now extinct in the Yangtze River.
